FrontPage Web Site Assignment

Assignments

The premise of this assignment is that you are working with a group to come up with a new design for a real site with information with photos.  You are to come up with a new design for the SPCA web site, add updated content and new pictures to your newly designed web pages.

You must meet client specifications:

bullet

You will use existing photos.

bullet

You must come up with a color scheme, graphic navigation, and graphic banners.

bullet

You must include the client's existing logo.

bullet

Information will be provided and you must decide how to best organize it within the client's specifications.  (See pages below.)

bullet

You may not use FrontPage navigation (except for planning), FrontPage themes or shared borders.

bullet

Home page must include a nice photo and space for current information that will be updated often.

Refer to FrontPage Help (new) for help with how you can do navigation.  You must develop at least 3 web pages in the 3 days you have to work on this web. (You can start planning and getting design ideas before the project officially begins.)  See below for what you will be graded on.  (I suggest starting with a plan for your design, working on a banner design and navigation graphics.)  When you are ready to start your site, create a new FrontPage web, one page web, at the location:  Z:\WebMastering_yourname\fp_mods\YourName_SPCA.  Create a nice home page for your  site, and decide on other pages you will create.  Organize information, add graphics and format in a professional way.  Remember design standards as listed below.

The grading rubric is based on the following items:

bullet

Color scheme is consistent (goes with their existing logo & other pages).

bullet

The pages should have their own graphic form of navigation, such as graphic buttons to link to other pages, to enable good navigation from page to page.  (Do not use FrontPage navigation bars or hover buttons on this assignment.)

bullet

This web must conform to the following web design standards, including:

bullet

Pages should download on 30 seconds or less on a 56K modem.  To change this setting in FrontPage, choose Tools, Options, Reports View tab.  Set connection speed at 56K and slow pages time as 30 seconds.

bullet

Clipart must be Microsoft Clipart or come from Microsoft Office Clipart site; In the real  world, you cannot just "harvest" graphics and use them to develop web sites for a career!

bullet

Pictures must come from photos provided.  Any other graphics must be original graphics you create.

bullet

Graphics and clipart shall not be wider than 770 pixels, and the table holding content cannot be wider than 772 pixels.  The client seems to prefer a design with a centered table of this width, allowing for a background color or image outside of this.

bullet

Pages and titles must be spell and grammar checked.

bullet

Page titles should identify the topic of the page in book title capitalization.

bullet

Information and pages should be organized in both content and layout.

bullet

Design concepts, such as white space, balance, contrast, readability, proximity, etc. should be applied.

bullet

Content used should add some value in the form of information and attractive, quality graphics.

bullet

Student must show significant effort in project.

Due dates for 2007 are Feb. 11 (A) and 12 (B).  The 4th six weeks ends Friday of the this week.

The following is a list of pages that will be included in the web site.
